Just to let you know that Version 4 of the forum software is provisionally set to be installed on 14th December so the board may be down for anything between a few hours and a day sometime around then.

Once it's back online you'll notice quite a few improvements to the board in a lot of areas. Cosmetically, there will be some minor enhancements, but mainly it will be in terms of performance, bug fixes, new features and much more besides that will really add a lot more to the board.

It will take us a little while to get to grips with some of the new things that the board can do so we won't be adding everything straight away but you will notice a lot of pretty cool things changing quite quickly. One thing that will be altering will be the Member Ranks. Instead of the current five ranks that we have at the moment, the new software allows a lot more so we'll be expanding that. Some of you will notice that your rankings will drop, but this will allow us to make the rank scale more realistic and make you earn the higher positions but this isn't a licence to spam!

The search feature is going to be enhanced, all members will be able to add to the calendar, profiles will be improved, we will be able to have sub-boards which will mean that we can expand the board while still keeping the front page the same size it is now, and the censored word list will be improved so words won't be part censored as they are now so only whole words are blanked out.

One final thing... when the new software comes in, the first time you all log in you'll be asked to confirm your date of birth. This is an automatic thing that Proboards have had to incorporate to meet legal requirements in the US. It's just a formality to meet their Terms And Conditions and you'll only need to do it once. Even if you've already got your date of birth on your profile, you'll still need to do this so don't worry if you're asked.

That's just the tip of the iceberg though... you're going to love it!!
